About this tour

Start before dawn with a hotel pickup between 2:00 and 3:00 am, depending on where you are staying. Your 4WD drives you up to the Batur caldera and stops at a viewpoint facing Mount Batur and Lake Batur. Photos are taken in the dark before sunrise, and sunrise is watched from the viewpoint.

Breakfast is served at the viewpoint. On the way back, your jeep crosses the Black Lava fields. Because the jeep is private, we can adjust the start time and stops to suit your group.

   Meet your jeep at the meeting point in the Kintamani highlands.

3. About 5:00 amArrive at the viewpoint

   Photo session in the dark before sunrise.

4. About 6:00 amSunrise at the viewpoint

   Watch the sun rise over Lake Batur.

5. About 7:00 amBreakfast and Black Lava drive

   Breakfast at the viewpoint, then drive back across the Black Lava fields.

6. About 8:00 amBack at your hotel

   Return to the meeting point and back to your hotel, depending on traffic.

• Bring a warm layer. It is cool at the viewpoint before sunrise.
• Wear closed shoes. The tracks are rough and dusty.
